Paul Villaespesa | Expert East Africa
As expert for East Africa in IUCN NL, Paul mainly coordinates programmes in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He holds a master’s degree in biodiversity management from the University of Toulouse (France) and wrote his final thesis on the monitoring of vegetation by local communities in South Africa in the Kruger to Canyon reserve. He also attended training offered by the Wildlife Collega of Garoua (Cameroon).
Within IUCN NL, Paul is focusing on wildlife crime, data analysis, cartographic monitoring, and scientific monitoring on certain programmes. Previously, he worked for the environmental police in France, monitoring the impact of anthropic and hunting activities on waterbird populations.
He has a great interest in birds, and volunteers as a as a ringer of common quail and grey partridge in France and the Netherlands.
